About the Developers

DR. CLINT HUGHES
Clint Hughes graduated from Kansas State University with a master's degree in physiology and a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He served in the Air Force as chief of an aero-medical field laboratory for physiology research studies for the space program. Upon completion of his military service, Clint practiced veterinary medicine in Albuquerque for 30 years. After retiring, he and his wife, Jo, moved to Santa Fe and became interested in real estate ventures. In 1970 Clint purchased 275 acres in Lower Colonias. This acreage supported a variety of wildlife with seasonal streams and ponds. The development of this land demonstrates Clint's belief that real estate investments can be financially rewarding while protecting the environment and wildlife. The 150 acres of open space contained in Haciendas at Seco Creek is an example of his commitment to raising public awareness of the possibilities of conservation.

GERRY BARBER
Gerry Barber, a partner in Haciendas at Seco Creek and owner of Madera Builders LLC, moved to New Mexico in 1977 to teach in the Los Alamos public school system while pursuing his love of snow skiing.
Gerry holds a master's degree in industrial arts education but was drawn to home building, where he worked during the summers. He soon realized that it was his passion, and since 1980 he has been involved in custom home construction. Madera Builders has won several awards and builds homes from the Chama area of Northern New Mexico to the Pecos area south of Santa Fe.

WENDY E. YOUNG-JONES
Wendy Young-Jones was born in Toronto, Canada, and is a graduate of the University of Toronto. She worked for 10 years in the Quebec Office of Public Affairs and for another 10 years in the investment business, successfully developing two office buildings and managing several equity portfolios. She has lived in Taos full-time since 1995. After her marriage to Mike Jones, Wendy and Mike operated a guest ranch with 800 head of cattle. In the late 1990s, they purchased land outside of Taos and created a working ranch that focuses on conservation, preservation, and range restoration, with special emphasis on direct-to-consumer grass-fed beef.During this time, Wendy and Mike became investors in Haciendas at Seco Creek. They have spent countless hours on the property enjoying the spring-fed ponds, seasonal stream, and diversity of flora and fauna.

Wendy is also actively involved in the Taos Oak Park, which maintains more than 120 native oak trees that have been reintroduced to land west of the Gorge.

Where the Southern Rockies extend from Colorado into the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range you’ll find Taos, the heart of Northern New Mexico. Here, the harmony of color, light, and textured high desert landscape shows nature in all of its glory. In this area of tri-cultural diversity where the coyotes roam and red-tail hawks and golden eagles fly, a small
group of passionate developers has a mission to create a unique community while providing a sanctuary for wildlife that homeowners can enjoy. Haciendas at Seco Creek is a blend of the best of what a mountain lifestyle has to offer — luxurious living surrounded by beautiful open spaces. Among 175 acres of indian paintbrush, sunflowers, sage, and desert grasses, this community of 24 homesites will include ownership of 150 acres of equally shared, protected green space. To maintain environmental stewardship of the land, the developers will donate $1,000 from the sale of every homesite to Rivers and Birds, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to preserve New Mexico’s natural and cultural heritage through conservation, education, and biological research programs.
Come enjoy the spacious blue skies and purple mountains' majesty at the Haciendas at Seco Creek.
