About the Developers
DR. CLINT HUGHES
Clint Hughes graduated from Kansas State University with a master's degree in physiology and a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He served in the Air Force as chief of an aero-medical field laboratory for physiology research studies for the space program. Upon completion of his military service, Clint practiced veterinary medicine in Albuquerque for 30 years. After retiring, he and his wife, Jo, moved to Santa Fe and became interested in real estate ventures. In 1970 Clint purchased 275 acres in Lower Colonias. This acreage supported a variety of wildlife with seasonal streams and ponds. The development of this land demonstrates Clint's belief that real estate investments can be financially rewarding while protecting the environment and wildlife. The 150 acres of open space contained in Haciendas at Seco Creek is an example of his commitment to raising public awareness of the possibilities of conservation.

He soon realized that it was his passion, and since 1980 he has been involved in custom home construction. Madera Builders has won several awards and builds homes from the Chama area of Northern New Mexico to the Pecos area south of Santa Fe.
